IT Career info

Karan asked 7 years ago

Hello,
I am a Computer Science graduate passed out in 2012. I wasn’t ready to be tied down with a coding career before exploring the market so I did some marketing jobs here n there, spent some time unemployed as well. Although this was fun, my career is not going anywhere and I have decided to get back to computers and softwares again. My skills in computing are average at best with basic coding knowledge in Java, HTML/CSS, PHP. I want to upgrade my skill set by taking up a short course in an upcoming technology/platform. I know Big Data is one of the options but I want to make an informed decision so could you please guide me in terms of what options are there and what courses can I pursue ?
Thanks in advance.

Hi Karan,
Why you want to leave marketing? If you love the job but want to get rid of travelling or field sales, you may try digital marketing (provided you hold an interest in marketing). Big data is good option if you love data crunching and analytics. As a fresher you may find little difficult to get a job in relevant Analytics profile. ITIL is also a good option. The final choice boils down to area of interest and your passion.
